Job Summary

Under direct supervision, assists with planning activities for equipment layouts in production facilities. Conducts studies to determine the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow and recommends methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel. Prepares cost estimates for proposed projects and parts, and evaluates other miscellaneous cost factors. Supports industrial engineering (IE) activities for two facilities (Peachtree City, GA and Griffin, GA). Travel is required b etween the two facilities.

Essential Job Functions (Primary duties and responsibilities) :

  • Coordinates equipment and machine layouts, workflow, and safety precautions to maximize utilization of plant and manufacturing facilities.
  • Ensures compliance with established industry safety and design standards and guidelines.
  • Evaluates worker productivity and recommends improvements to increase manpower efficiency and operating performance; reduce waste and delays; and promote cost control/reductions.
  • Tracks and reports metrics to measure plant and equipment capacity output and identify equipment and process flow bottlenecks.
  • Assists with the establishment of accident prevention measures.
  • Plans and schedules training programs for personnel concerning all phases of production operation.
  • Leads 5s methods, continuous process improvements, Kaizen programs, and quality initiatives.
  • Maintains process routes for parts and finished goods.
  • Maintains production standards for fabricated parts and finished goods.

  • When travel is required, visual acuity to operate motor vehicle in daytime and nighttime.

Work Environment:

  • Works in both office area and in manufacturing, warehouse, and/or supporting areas. When in the manufacturing, warehouse, and/or supporting areas, worker must be aware of and exercise caution around hazardous conditions such as electricity, moving equipment, moving parts, refrigerants, chemicals, torches, solvents, dust, dirt, fumes, and contaminants.
  • Indoor and outdoor work tasks subject worker to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions. Outdoor environmental conditions could include heat and cold; precipitation; wind; and sunlight.
  • Exposure to vibrations and moderate-to-loud noises.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required of the job and work area. PPE includes but is not limited to safety glasses, safety googles, face shields, welding shields, protective welding clothing, safety toed footwear, hearing protection, gloves, aprons, protective sleeves, hard hats, safety harnesses, and respiratory protection.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or professional training. 10+ years of progressively complex mechanical engineering experience and successful attainment of continuous relevant professional training. Prior experience enhancing and creating product lines/families.
  • Experience in refrigeration and the food service industry is strongly preferred.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Knowledge of advanced engineering principles and mathematics.
  • Experience with plastics fabrication processes, assembly processes, and design for manufacturability.
  • Proficient knowledge of test equipment and measurement instrumentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities.
  • Analytical, detailed oriented with ability to manage time and tasks appropriately.
  • Proficient in database, spreadsheet, and word processing applications.
  • Ability to use CREO and Windchill.
  • Team oriented and collaborative.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to direct and decide the actions of model shop work or testing.
