Our Product Design Engineer III is responsible for the successful execution of all design engineering aspects of gas and electric furnaces development including the launch of new products and implementing major enhancements to existing ones. The position supports existing products including the investigation of field applications, component evaluation and value engineering initiatives. The candidate must have a bias for action, an entrepreneurial spirit and focus on internal and external customers.

This position will serve our Nordyne Division, located in O'Fallon, MO. This is a hybrid position.

  • Technical leader on new product development programs and initiatives as part of a diverse cross-functional team.
  • Develop and oversee laboratory test programs. Evaluate, investigate, and act upon results.
  • Coordinate the activities of designers, laboratory technicians, and modelers to innovate new product designs.
  • Use problem-solving techniques to develop and implement corrective actions to improve product quality and reliability.
  • Being able to travel to manufacturing facilities and customers as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in HVAC product design
  • Thorough understanding of heat transfer, combustion theory, and HVAC Compression Vapor Cycle
  • Experience working with Computational Fluid Dynamics and Finite Element Analysis tools.
  • Experienced using Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis within design process.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and systematic trouble shooting.
  • Experience with Design of Experiments
  • Familiar with CAD tools and engineering change management packages
  • Effective collaboration and teamwork in a diverse global environment
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS in Mechanical Engineering
  • Familiar with industry safety standard UL, ANSI Z21.47/CSA 2.3 and performance standard ASHRAE 103
  • Familiar with SAP
