Equipment Operator

Job Description:

Operate light to medium construction equipment such as dump truck and backhoes.

Perform additional construction and maintenance tasks such as concrete work, truck driving; asphalt spreading; jack hammering, and a variety of minor activities.

Deposit asphalt onto surface to be covered; rake and roll asphalt; break concrete and asphalt with jack hammer. Perform minor maintenance on equipment.

Transport personnel and materials to and from work sites; pick-up supplies and materials; run various errands and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of the operating characteristics of the full range of light to medium construction equipment.

One year of experience comparable to an Equipment Operator I in the City of Jackson.

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.

Possession of a valid Class A or Class B Commercial license required.

PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENTSHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
