Plumber Coe College seeks qualified candidates for the position of Plumber. This position, under limited supervision, is to apply knowledge and skills of a journey person in the installation, service and repair of a variety of plumbing equipment. Will assist in the planning and implementation of the College's maintenance and remodeling projects. Must be knowledgeable in city, state, federal codes and OSHA regulations as they would pertain to the College and its projects. Will perform related work as required. Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Operate, repair and perform preventative maintenance on urinals, water closets, utility sinks and sinks throughout the campus and off campus area.
  • Operate, repair, test all cross connection devices per OSHA, state, city, and Federal regulations as they pertain to the College and its properties.
  • Maintain records and submit reports on designated equipment.
  • Perform duties as assigned on the Emergency Response and Control team.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
  • Inspect, install and maintain new and existing water systems. Including water pipes, valves, fittings, and controls used in the operation and distribution of those systems.
  • Direct the work of any person assigned to assist.
  • Cooperate with outside contractors.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings. Keep track of any changes and/or modifications to same, and report them to the Director of the Physical Plant
  • Ability to do preventative maintenance on assigned HVAC equipment.
  • Ability to fill in for the HVAC technician in his/her absence.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Two years education or job experience or combination of job experience and formal technical education which equates to two years. Have a current journeyman plumbers license.
  • Must be certified to operate, maintain, repair and replace cross connection devices per OSHA, state, city, and Federal regulations.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics and to verify building codes are complied with.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States as visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States as we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
  • Must have a valid Iowa Driver's License.
  • Successful completion of background and MVR checks in accordance with Coe College policy.

  • For those whom have College service vehicles checked out, must maintain a regular maintenance check of the fluid level and keep the vehicle clean.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
  • Flexible Schedule.
  • Must be able lift 50+lbs occasionally and/or as needed.
  • May involve exposure to chemical substances, hazards and moving parts.
  • Routine exposure to heat, cold, moisture/wetness, inclement weather, noise air pollution and heights
  • Work schedule is subject to change in accordance with College needs.
  • Call ins may be mandatory based on College need.
