Electrician II - Journeyman

Job Description:

Responsible for the repair, maintenance and installation of electrical systems and equipment. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly lifts five (5) to twenty (20) pounds
  • Frequent lifting of twenty (20) to fifty (50) pounds
  • Occasional lifting over fifty (50) pounds
  • Frequent climbing stairs and ladders
  • Occasionally assist, position, balance, support students weighing more than 100 pounds.
  • Frequent sitting and standing
  • Regular bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Regularly required to move around work place, manipulating and handling, reaching and detecting objects and equipment, reaching for objects and equipment while simultaneously assisting balancing, positioning, lifting.

Minimum Experience Requirement:

  • 3-5 years of job related experience.

Minimum Education or Formal Training:

  • High school graduate plus specialized classes beyond high school.
  • Must have a minimum of 8,000 hours of on the job training to meet the requirements of the Department of Regulatory Agency.
  • Must have a minimum of 288 hours of electrical training in grounding/bonding, NEC code changes, wiring methods, theory/calculations as required by DORA. Must have a minimum of 10 hours of OSHA curriculum based safety training.
  • Must be able to obtain a Journeyman license within 90 days of hire.
  • Must maintain license through the continuing competency requirements as required every three years.

Position Specific Information (if Applicable):

Responsibilities:

Coordinate and delegate work within the electrical maintenance trade.

Evaluate problems and situations relating to electrical equipment, make decisions accordingly.

Perform other related duties as assigned or requested

Inspect, repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment at various District facilities.

Estimate repairs and projects in terms of labor and materials.

Repair electrical motors, controllers and starters.

Certifications:

Journeyman Electrician License - Colorado, Rauland Intercom Certification - Willing to obtain

Education:

High School or Equivalent (Required)

Skills:

Ability to maintain and take care of District provided tools, vehicles and equipment., Ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision., Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings., Ability to work cooperatively with team members., Excellent customer service skills., Has the ability to translate complex instructions into simpler instructions as necessary, Knowledge of electrical codes, Knowledge of industrial electrical equipment, Knowledge of low and high voltage circuitry., Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions, Observes all District policies and procedures., Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • All salary amounts listed above are based on a full-time (1.0) FTE. If applicable, part-time salaries will be prorated according to the assigned FTE.
