Primary Purpose:
To maintain facilities, plumbing systems and equipment in such a manner that no disruption occurs to the instructional program.
Qualifications: Education/Certification:
- High School Graduate or General Equivalency Diploma
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- Journeyman Plumbing License or ability to acquire one in a reasonable time
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to work with tools and a basic understanding of plumbing maintenance
- The Plumber shall take a regular turn in the Maintenance Department's On-Call program, up to 13 weeks per year.
Experience:
- Previous experience in plumbing maintenance
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications the administration finds appropriate
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Install, maintain and repair plumbing pipe and systems.
- Troubleshoot and clear sanitary sewer, grease traps and science/art lab sewer system problems.
- Install, maintain and repair potable/hot water systems.
- Install, maintain and repair toilets urinals and related flushing systems.
- Troubleshoot and make minor repairs to water fountains.
- Compile, catalog and maintain inventory of supplies, materials, tools and equipment utilizing the inventory management module of the maintenance management system for items issued to worker or assigned vehicle.
- Issue inventoried parts and materials on work requests so accurate inventory of parts is maintained.
- Perform preventive maintenance on plumbing equipment, systems and facilities under guidance of Plumbing Supervisor utilizing the Department's maintenance management system.
- Monitor Maintenance Department maintenance management system, complete assigned tasks in accordance with Department goals and guidelines.
- Complete assigned work requests by accurately entering technician comments, labor and material costs in accordance with Department goals.
- Fill out District forms and maintains electronic maintenance records as directed.
- Assist other maintenance personnel as needed and directed by supervisor.
- Perform other duties as the superintendent or designee may assign.

Tools/Equipment Used: Operate school bus; two-way radio; safety equipment including but not limited to flares, reflective signs, and fire extinguisher
Posture: Prolonged sitting; frequent standing and twisting; occasional kneeling/squatting, bending, stooping, and pushing/pulling
Motion: Prolonged driving; moderate walking; frequent climbing stairs, grasping/squeezing, wrist and shoulder flexion/extension, and reaching
Lifting: Limited lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds).
Environment: Frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, noise, and vehicle fumes; work around moving vehicles; regularly work irregular hours, and occasionally work prolonged hours
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress
