Welder Fitter

Will help lay-out, fit, and weld various fabricated, cast, forged, steel, aluminum and stainless steel components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, structural and piping components.**Responsibilities:**- Must be reliable and dependable- Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, and rulers- Recognize, set-up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment- Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure into position for welding- Set up equipment and weld parts (FCAW, SMAW, GTAW)- Examine work pieces for defects and measure with straightedges to templates to ensure conformance with specification, recommended practices, and standards- Repair broken or cracked parts, fill holes, and increase size of metal parts by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts- Position and clamp together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding- Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material**Education and Training:**- High School Diploma (or equivalent)- 3-5 years related experience or training; or a combination of education and experience- Strong Math skills- Shop skills include welding and blueprint reading- Experience with structural and pip fabrication
