Airswift has been tasked by one of our major Oil and Gas clients to seek an Mechanical Engineer to work on an initial 12-month contract in Sabine Pass, TX with benefits.

Duration - 1 year, with potential for extension (2 - 3 years through train 3)

Function Description

MAIN FUNCTIONS

The Mechanical Piping Engineer focuses on the review and support of the Piping Engineering discipline design, fabrication, installation, mechanical completion, and commissioning activities performed by the EPC Contractor during all different project stages under EPC Project scope including the review of Contractor deliverables as well as oversight of Contractor personnel. The role is characterized by:

Execute all expected activities committed with high value for safety taking responsibly for his/her own safety and the safety of his/her co-worker

Motivated with strong leadership skills and effective interface and influence others without authority

Reviews Contractor Deliverables and is responsible for providing and coordinating Company comments within the Mechanical Piping discipline for the Project-wide Area

Reviews design, specifications, procurement, construction/installation activities, and systems mechanical completion walkdown to ensure compliance with Codes, regulatory, Job Specifications, and contractual requirements.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities of the Mechanical Piping Engineer shall include the following but not limited to:

Responsible for all piping mechanical design, including Stress Analysis expertise, for the project-wide scope (including brownfield modifications) considering the full life cycle of the equipment

Make sure compliance with critical pipe stress calculations results aligned with equipment and piping layout, routing and placement including pipe supports configurations

Works with the E&R Group to ensures compliance with all NFPA, FERC and PHMSA permits/requirements and code compliance

Review, assess, and approve piping field engineering design changes. Perform field surveillance of piping installation (placement and layout) monitoring compliance with project specifications

Interface with Construction and Quality personnel to provide expertise in the resolution of non-conformance reports, evaluation of specification deviations including field design change requests

Monitor Contractor's piping installation execution, fabrication, erection, cleaning activities, code pressure testing, punch listing, repair, and completion

Provide engineering support for various Company project groups / teams for construction, completion, commissioning, and start up

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in engineering

Min. Profession Level III with min 15+ years of closely related professional experience, min. 5+ years of which should be at the senior engineering level in large projects and experience carrying out field outlined activities described on tasks and responsibility section above

Strong leadership, influencing, and interpersonal skills

Excellent communication skills and ability to read, write, and speak fluent English

Broad and extensive knowledge and experience on:

Previous proven experience on LNG Projects Design, Construction, Commissioning, and Startup.

Multiple large projects experience as piping engineer SME in multiple areas: piping and piping components (valves, flanges, bolts, gaskets, specialty items, strainers, bends, tees, accessories, etc), piping Supports (spring supports, rigid struts, rigid hangers, cold shoe, hold downs), coating, piping Material, system integrity / corrosion protection, insulation, and fitness for service.

Lead technical complex discussion on design, construction execution challenges, specification deviations, technical queries, and discussion with Regulatory parties and other project teams: Construction, Quality, Operations & Maintenance, Contractors, and Vendors

Excellent knowledge and leading / proven competency on Design standards, specifications, codes, practices and appropriate safety criteria

Expertise running Piping Stress Analysis Cesar II or similar

Knowledge, competency, and proven experience on the following areas:

Piping ASME Codes B31.1 (Power Steam High Pressure System)

Piping B31.3 (Process Piping, including Piping Stress Analysis)

ASME PCC-1/ 2 (Pressure Boundary Bolted Flange Joint Assembly, Repair of Pressure Equipment and Piping)

ASME and API related to Flange, Valves, Pressure relief devices, and Piping Components including Valves design, selection and troubleshooting

ASME BPVC

Applicable API or other Industry Standards, practices, and local regulations requirements

Regulatory requirements from FERC, PHMSA, TDLR, and TCEQ
