QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, and equipment used in the skilled carpentry trade.

Must possess the ability to apply the principles, methods, materials, and equipment used in a variety of rough and finished carpentry work; work from sketches, drawings, and blueprints; keep records; use carpentry and woodworking tools in a skilled manner; follow written and oral directions; maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.

Must also possess the ability to build shelves, cabinets, stairways, closets, bulletin boards, and tables; install doors, chalkboards, cases, locks, trim, and acoustical ceilings; repair floors, walls, doors, gates, and fences; maintain tools in a safe and efficient operating condition; keep records and order supplies and equipment as needed; work from plans and specifications; perform related duties as required, such as, assist locksmith and welder.

Three years experience, as a craftsman in the carpenter trade; applicant must have the ability to read, write and do math calculations at a level necessary to perform the duties of the position.

MUST POSSESS AND MAINTAIN A VALID CALIFORNIA DRIVERS LICENSE. A CURRENT COPY OF DMV DRIVING RECORD WILL BE REQUIRED OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE TRAINED AND RESPONSIBLE FOR THE KERN HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICTS NEEDS WITH REGARDS TO ASBESTOS, LEAD PAINT AND HAZARDOUS MATERIALS.

A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK AND PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL ASSESSMENT WILL BE REQUIRED OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.

ABILITY TO PASS A WRITTEN EXAMINATION REQUIRED FOR ALL QUALIFIED APPLICANTS.

DUTIES OF POSITION: Under general supervision perform skilled carpentry work on school buildings and facilities; perform related duties as assigned.

STARTING SALARY: $6,862.38 (monthly)

NUMBER OF MONTHS: 12 (to begin as soon as possible)

NUMBER OF HOURS: 8 (daily working hours to be 7:00 a.m. 3:30 p.m.)
