    April 15, 2025 POSITION: Electrician

    LOCATION: Facilities

    JOB SUMMARY:
    The Dougherty County School System is seeking a qualified and dedicated Electrician to join our Facilities & Maintenance Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing skilled electrical work in the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical systems across district buildings and facilities.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Technical training in electrical system installation, repair and maintenance;
    2. Experience as an electrician in all phases of electrical work;
    3. Minimum of 5 years of professional electrical experience;
    4. Knowledge of state/local electrical codes and safety regulation;
    5. Must have valid Georgia Drivers license, and maintain a good driving record;
    6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and the Board may find appropriate.
    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    1. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills;
    2. Ability to prioritize tasks effectively, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects across various district locations;
    3. Clear verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with facilities staff, administrators, and vendors;
    4. Maintains a courteous, respectful demeanor in a school environment with staff, students, and the public.
    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, lighting, outlets, and other related systems schools and administrative buildings;
    2. Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards;
    3. Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems using appropriate testing devices;
    4. Coordinate with maintenance staff and contractors as needed;
    5. Maintain accurate records of repairs, installations, and inspections;
    6. Respond to emergency calls and perform preventative maintenance as scheduled;
    7. Assist in energy efficiency and lighting upgrade projects;
    8. Performs other such duties needed or assigned by the Supervisor.

    WORK/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and crouch for extended periods throughout the workday;
    2. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds (occasionally heavier with assistance);
    3. Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding, and lifts at varying heights (including ceilings and rooftops);
    4. Capable of performing work in tight spaces, such as crawl spaces, attics, and electrical closets;
    5. Able to use hand and power tools with precision and manual dexterity;
    6. Visual and auditory ability to safely perform all duties, including reading schematics, identifying wire colors, and hearing alarms or signals;
    7. Must be able to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including hot, cold, dusty, or noisy areas;
    8. Occasional need to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, safety glasses, hard hats, and respirators;

    SALARY RANGE: 12 Month Employee. Competitive salary and excellent benefits package, in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide
