Salary

• Support Salary Scale Grade S09: $24.78 per hour; starting

Under the Fair Labor and Standards Act this position is non - exempt from overtime. Actual salary placement will be in accordance with the salary procedures of the Frederick County Public School System. Please see linked salary scale for the full range.

Role

This is a skilled carpentry position in which the employee is responsible for performing carpentry installation, repair, and maintenance.

Essential Functions

Reporting directly to the Area Maintenance Manager, the Carpenter performs the following duties:

• Install, maintain, and repair partitions, doors, floors, door frames, window frames, screens, panes, sashes, shelving, cabinets, wall paneling, and roofs.
• Operate power saws, joiners, sharpeners, and other power tools.
• Install and repair gutters.
• Complete work orders.
• Move equipment and furniture when necessary to complete work.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Area Maintenance Manager.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Five (5) years of professional experience in the field of carpentry.
• Working knowledge of methods and techniques, materials, tools, and equipment used in carpentry maintenance.
• Ability to diagnose carpentry problems and make the necessary repairs.
• Ability to estimate labor and material costs.
• A valid drivers license and ability to operate a Board vehicle in accordance with Board policy.
• Must be available to respond to calls in emergency situations.
• Capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Regular and predictable attendance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with the FCPS policies, goals and programs.
