GENERAL MAINTENANCE MECHANIC (FRS, Seasonal)

Performs semi-skilled work and assists higher-level coworkers in performing further-skilled tasks in the repair, maintenance, construction, and alteration of buildings, facilities, electrical, irrigation, and other mechanical equipment in County parks and amenities. Responsible for the safe operation of small to large machinery, including utility carts, tractors, skid loaders, small to medium-sized trucks, large vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) greater than 26,001 pounds, various-size bucket trucks, and small to medium-sized boats. May perform minor plastering, drywall, cement work, and interior/exterior painting; assists with maintenance of walls, doors, floors, stairways, windows, screens, wood fixtures, and furniture.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of four (4) years of experience in building/facilities maintenance, repair, or construction at the semi-skilled level.

PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE IN/WITH: Repairing, maintaining, or installing plumbing, fiberglass, irrigation in a commercial setting; concrete/stucco/brick/tile or paver work; general building maintenance in park operations or at a commercial facility; testing swimming pool water chemistry (must specify on application). Also desirable: Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO).
