Charter Steel is seeking a Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our growing team on the Night Shift! We are offering a $5,000 hiring bonus* for this role, after 90 days of continuous employment!
POSITION PURPOSE/MISSION:
Serve as a core component of the maintenance department and. contribute to the success of the business operation. Success includes, leading safety efforts to create a safe work environment, providing a Continuous Improvement mindset, and working well in a team environment. M aintain electrical equipment, control systems and perform additional duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequent standing, walking, and lifting up to 10 lbs.
- Occasional sitting, balancing, push/pull, carrying, climbing, reaching over 15 from the body, reaching above shoulder, fine motor skills, use of forceful motion, and lifting up to 35 lbs.
- Minimal foot use, below waist level work, and lifting up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation, as provided in detail in the Job Analysis Database.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Three plus years industrial electrician maintenance experience or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge and experience with industrial electronics, AC/DC theory, power transmission, test instruments and instrumentation, VFDs, PLCs, ladder logic, relay logic, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, motor controls, and electrical construction.
- Ability to install, troubleshoot, and maintain a wide variety of industrial equipment using schematic diagrams and equipment manuals as guides.
- Demonstrated commitment to safe working behaviors including lockout, fall protection, confined space, and mobile equipment operation.
- Ability to operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, overhead traveling cranes, and aerial lift platforms in a safe and professional manner.
- Demonstrated good housekeeping practices and 5S principles.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
- Proficient in good math skills.
- Good communication and reading skills.
- Ability to follow and give instructions.
- Good problem solving skills.
- Proficient computer skills to receive/close work orders, use email, perform basic Microsoft Office skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship, Journeyman Certification, or equivalent work experience.
- Steel industry experience.
- Welding and light fabrication experience.
- Experience with industrial communication networks (Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet).
- Experience with Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) control loops and combustion controls.
- Basic understanding of mechanical devices.
- Strong communication skills and familiarity working in a team-based environment.
- Safety awareness training.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Troubleshoot and repair specific plant equipment.
- Analyze test results, machine error messages, and information obtained from operators to diagnose and repair.
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM), troubleshooting, inspection, calibration, installation, and all necessary support of the equipment.
- Support and work as a team with the Mechanical Maintenance Technicians to support internal customer requests.
- Support parts inventory system accuracy.
- Perform miscellaneous plant duties as instructed by the supervisor.
- Follow and comply with all safety and work rules.
- Follow Environmental, Quality and Safety Management System procedures.
