The Loan Operations Manager plays a key role in optimizing team performance by ensuring the efficient processing and servicing of loans while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and bank policies. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the overall loan operations, including managing the consumer, commercial, dealer and mortgage loan operations staff. As a critical member of leadership, they will provide administrative direction and support for daily operational activities, ensuring the department delivers effective, accurate and courteous service to both internal and external customers while achieving the Bank's goals and objectives.

What will you be doing in this role?

  • Oversees the end-to-end loan processing functions, including application review, documentation, disbursement, and servicing. Ensures timely and accurate processing of all loan transactions, including new loans, renewals, modifications, and payoffs and confirms accurate and complete records of all loan transactions and correspondence are maintained.
  • Regularly reviews and recommends updates to loan policies and procedures to improve workflow and ensure compliance. Implements and maintains efficient processes and systems to optimize the loan operations function.
  • Collaborates with system providers to optimize application usage, streamline processes, and ensure accuracy and compliance. Analyzes, prepares, and trains staff on periodic software and policy/procedural updates, verifies the effectiveness of enhancements, and coordinates with other departments related to system design and parameters to support the needs of multiple departments.
  • Prepares and presents regular Management and Board reports on loan administration activities, including loan portfolio performance, compliance audits, and operational metrics.
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations and bank policies and procedures. Acts as a liaison to compliance and internal/external auditors when handling audit and compliance issues and works closely with compliance to mitigate risks associated with loan operations. Stays abreast of new rules, regulations, and procedures to assist in implementation and revision of current policies and procedures.
  • Establishes an inclusive environment and supports competent staff capable of meeting departmental objectives. This activity includes recruitment, onboarding, salary administration, performance management, career development, and assistance to subordinates in problem resolution. Performs all functions of personnel management of Loan Operations employees. Provides day-to-day people and process leadership to cross-functional areas not within direct authority.

Requirements

What will you need?

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in a financial institution.
  • Five to seven years of banking experience, preferably in loan operations management, with at least three years of demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Reputation for excellence in customer service. Effective at building, nurturing and leveraging relationships even in challenging environments and experience in developing, training, leading, inspiring and motivating a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly, influence others, and build rapport with clients and team members.
  • Detailed knowledge of lending products, including residential, commercial, consumer, and dealer. Strong background in bank financial reporting as it relates to loan data, reconciliations, and internal controls.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations, identify underlying issues or deficiencies, and develop and implement effective solutions.
