Job Description
The Senior HVAC Technician oversees, as well as performs, repairs, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance on facility HVAC equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Diagnose and troubleshoot complex HVAC systems issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions. Lead and supervise other HVAC technicians/apprentices, provide technical guidance, and train new hires on best practices and safety procedures. Order, manage, and stock HVAC parts and supplies. May be required to pick up parts locally. Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and installations, including worker orders, time sheets, material costs, and warranties to ensure they are honored by supplier. Ensure compliance with state required HVAC laws and regulations. Follow written and oral instructions given by managers. Proactively perform preventative maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Driving for optimum performance. Continued education related HVAC and building automation systems. Work independently on routine recurring assignments. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees. Learn and perform assigned tasks quickly and correctly through on-the-job training and learn safety regulations and practice safety precautions. Read and interpret blueprints, machine manuals, and schematic drawings to assist in HVAC and BAS repairs. Comprehend written materials. Use Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety procedures, and appropriate equipment in completing assignments. Minimum Qualifications Must be able to obtain a state medical marijuana badge and pass a background check. Must be able to communicate with GDF Team effectively and professionally. Experience with electrical, HVAC systems, and refrigeration systems. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems. Knowledge of basic machine operations Knowledge of three-phase motors and controls up to 480 volts Knowledge and proper use of hand tool Ability to perform manual labor outdoors in temperature extremes for extended periods of time Positive attitude and strong work ethic. Must be a team player with a can do attitude Available to work weekends and holidays as needed Reliable transportation Education Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required. Post-secondary trade or vocational school preferred; equivalent experience considered in lieu of formal education preferred Licensed in Commercial HVAC/R. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day The ability to sit or stand for up to 12 hours at a time The ability to work in bright/hot/humid conditions. Lifting, standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, push/pull, repetitive use of hands, grasping use of hands, visual activity. Exposure to limited hazardous chemicals
