FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Fulltime, 12-month contract

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High school diploma required Also required is completion of a four-year apprenticeship electrician program which combines on the-job training with at least 144 hours of classroom instruction each year and/or certification from an approved technical

institution. The applicant must hold a current master electrician's license.

Experience: Must have a minimum of ten years continuous practice as a journeyman electrician, with at least five of those years as a lead electrician.

Skills: Thorough knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the electrical trade, with the ability to drill holes, set

anchors, measure, fabricate, and install conduit, as well as install, connect, and test wiring, outlets, and switches, being proficient to do electrical layout, test equipment, replace circuit breakers, ballasts and switches, repair wiring by splicing or by bending and cutting conduit, understand and use wiring diagrams, blueprints,

and other building specifications. Also required is the ability to use tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, conduit benders, knives, drills, and meters to test voltage, ohms, and amps and power tools. The candidate must possess mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material and labor estimates for job cost reports.

JOB SUMMARY: An electrician is defined as a craftsman with extensive skill and experience, able to manage self and supervise other electricians while maintaining an operational inventory of necessary tools, safety equipment, production equipment and vehicles to perform specific activities assigned by the Director of Maintenance. They must have extensive knowledge of quality control, cost control, and safe work practices. Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations with a general knowledge of blueprint reading is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: These statements are intended to describe the responsibilities assigned to this position and are not intended to represent an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required.

1.Completes material take-offs, develops orders, verifies parts received at time of delivery

2.Provides job site supervision including protection, cleanliness, jobsite safety and security, as well as providing protection of District property, materials and equipment

3.Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical equipment and fixtures

4.Diagnose malfunctioning systems to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair

5.Test electrical systems, circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures

6.Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring as required

7.Install ground leads and wires, switch boxes, circuit breaker panels and conduits for wall wiring

8.Order and maintain inventory of common repair parts as needed

9.Attend training classes as required by the District

10.Identify and correct unsafe conditions and practices

11.Identify, document and notify supervisors of damage, abuse and negligent use of equipment or tools

12.Track work orders and communicate status to appropriate

personnel

13.Assist in management of electrical warranties

14.Provide for customer satisfaction and total quality control of all work put in place

15.Demonstrates understanding of Electrical Building Code Inspections

ESSENTIAL BEHAVIOR:

The employee is expected to be self motivated and to be productive without direct supervision. Must have the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines while working within schedules. Must demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Must be responsible, reliable, and task-oriented. Must have a team-oriented attitude with good communication and customer relations skills. General care and cleanliness of the issued district vehicle is expected as well as keeping all district tools and materials secure. Must follow all safety rules, practice safe work habits and use appropriate safety equipment.

ATTENDANCE STATEMENT:

Candidate must be able to be in attendance for assigned responsibilities 95% of the time, must be available to work off shift hours and be willing to be on call 24/7 to respond to emergency calls immediately.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Position requires performance of duties in wet, humid hot and cold conditions (non weather), work near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places and in enclosed areas; exposure to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals possible; work may be performed outdoors; position has exposure to noise, vibration and risk of electrical shock.
