  • Operate equipment safely and use safe work habits.
  • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly/tacking and or welding using prescribed fixtures and proper work procedures
  • Setup & Operate manual, semi-automatic & automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using Arc or Resistance Welding processes such as, gas metal arc, gas tungsten arc, spot, stitch & projection welding, within the parameters outlined in work procedures
  • Setup & Operate Hydraulic presses to form metal components to the required specifications as well as perform tooling die conversions.
  • Examine work pieces for defects either visual or through the leak tester and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Monitor welding/forming processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
  • Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required.
  • Position and secure work-pieces, using hoists, cranes, big joe's
  • Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scrapers or power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment.
  • Operate machines/processes required to manufacture, set up and operate assigned machines in area to produce finished product
  • Keep work area safe and clean (5S - Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)
  • Assume responsibility for quality workmanship that meets and/or exceeds customer expectations
  • Demonstrate willingness to work with others in a team environment & follow direction
  • Positive, willingness to learn and participate in a changing environment to reach a common goal
  • Ability to read blueprints, job data sheets, safety instructions, etc.
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Support General Assembly production on the lines as needed.
