at Myers Industries in South Beloit, Illinois, United States Job Description 2nd Shift: Mon - Thurs. 3:25pm - 1:55am; E/O Fri 3:30pm - 12:00am Mandatory Wage: $23.00+/DOE, plus additional $1.00/hour for shift differential Job Overview The MIG Welder III is a highly skilled position responsible for performing advanced MIG welding processes to assemble and manufacture complex metal products, structures, and components according to stringent specifications and quality standards. This role requires extensive knowledge and experience in MIG welding techniques, the ability to read and interpret detailed blueprints and technical drawings, and a strong commitment to safety, precision, and excellence. The MIG Welder II ensures adherence to safety standards, contributes to continuous improvement in welding processes, and is flexible in working between the North, South, and Stainless-Steel Departments to fulfill the needs of the business. Duties and Responsibilities Advanced MIG Welding: Perform advanced MIG welding operations on complex metal components and structures. Ensure welds are of the highest quality, meet exacting specifications, and pass rigorous visual and functional inspections. Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine precise welding requirements and specifications. Material Preparation: Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, cutting, and positioning parts. Ensure precise alignment and fit-up of components before welding. Equipment Maintenance: Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment, tools, and machinery. Conduct advanced troubleshooting and repairs to ensure equipment is in optimal working condition. Quality Control: Inspect welded joints and structures to ensure they meet the highest quality standards and specifications. Identify and address any defects or inconsistencies promptly. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure proper ventilation in the welding area. Training and Mentoring: Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to less experienced welders. Share best practices and techniques to improve overall team performance. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including welding logs, inspection reports, and material usage. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Expert proficiency in MIG welding techniques and equipment operation. Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. In-depth knowledge of safety practices and procedures in a welding environment. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform advanced troubleshooting. Education and Experience Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a welding certification program or vocational training in welding is required. Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in MIG welding, including advanced welding projects. Prior work experience in a manufacturing or construction environment is essential.
