The Roofer's Helpers will begin each day by loading roofing materials in the work truck at the worksite address. After arrival at the property, Roofer's Helpers will unload the materials and set up the worksite. For example, the Roofer's Helper will set up the ladder. Using a ladder, the Roofer's Helper will climb to the top of the roof. Once on the roof, the Roofer's Helper will assist the Roofer with removal of the old roofing material, at the direction of, and under the supervision of, the Roofer. The Roofer's Helper would also be responsible for removing the old materials and disposing of it. Once the old roofing material is removed, the Roofer's Helper will clean the roof and area, under the supervision of, and at the direction of, the Roofer. Finally, the Roofer's Helper will assist the Roofer with installing or repairing the new roof. This assistance may be to hold tools for the Roofer or provide necessary tools and materials to the Roofer. The Roofer's Helper may also help to prepare materials. For example, under the direction and supervision of the Roofer, the Roofer's Helper may melt tar to be used on a roof, if tar is to be used for that particular job. Once the job is finished, the Roofer's Helper will clean the worksite, and load all materials back into the work vehicle, including tools, ladders, and roofing materials.No education or training requiredExperience: 6 months as construction helperSkills: Helpers must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. Helpers must be comfortable to work at heights (i.e., on the top of roofs). Helpers work outside in all weather conditions. Helpers must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.Work experience helping with any type of construction is accepted, including roofing, painting, siding, and other construction work site labor.Travel: Workers will report to the worksite address at the beginning of each day. Workers will then be transported, free of charge, to properties throughout Westchester, Putnam, and Bronx Counties in New York and Stamford and Greenwich, CT areas to perform the duties described herein.
