Job Description


ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Temporary Electrician for our ISS2 contract supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located at Eareckson Air Station (EAS).

This is a rotational position in which the selected employee will work a schedule with 3 months on shift at a time, 1 month off, at Eareckson Air Station (EAS), located in Shemya, AK. While working on-site, housing is provided in the form of a dormitory facility. All meals are furnished through the cafeteria. Transportation to EAS from Anchorage, AK, is provided by government-sponsored aircraft. This is a negotiated union position.

This Temporary position will last for one 3-month rotation.

Position Summary

Provide installation, alteration, additions and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment within the electrical construction industry. Will be working with power generation and large area power distribution.

Essential Duties & Job Functions

  • Responsible for installation and construction with some maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment
  • Knowledge of the proper use of standard wire, conduit, fittings, and hardware commonly found in industrial plants.
  • Read and understand conduit drawings, schematics, drawings, and specifications.
  • Responsible for use and care of the tools and equipment commonly employed in industrial construction, including but not limited to:
  • hydraulic/electric benders,
  • Knockout Punch sets,
  • cable puller, meggers,
  • hi-pot equipment,
  • volt meters,
  • multi-testers
  • ammeter
  • Able to set and coordinate over-current protective devices, size feeder circuits, and have a basic understanding to work on systems across the island.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician's License
  • Ability to perform associated mathematical calculations.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of safety management
  • Strong MS Office and other computer skills
  • Knowledge of pertinent local, state, and federal laws, ordinances, codes, and rules
  • Ability to speak, write, and read English.
  • Must have a state driver's license and an acceptable record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
  • Candidates must be a US citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
