Job Description

Designing Industrial control systems to help a leading plastic processing equipment manufacturer satisfy customer contracts.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Industrial Control System design including the creation of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, control panel layouts and bill of materials.
  • Attend job kickoff meetings, engineering review meetings, and customer meetings as needed.
  • Coordinate the review of the mechanical and electrical design to ensure it meets engineering specifications.
  • Work closely with team members to complete projects and assignments.
  • Act in a responsible and timely fashion to adhere to the project schedule and ensure overall project success. Communicate project status to management.
  • Coordinate with controls engineers, including those from other divisions, to review existing or establish new standards.
  • Interact with customers as required.
  • Infrequent travel for customer visits and vendor meetings.
  • Maintain and promote the highest professional standards. Ensure customer confidence in Davis-Standard’s capabilities and enhance Davis-Standard’s credibility with our customers and leadership position in the marketplace.
  • Conform to appropriate ISO 9000 quality system procedures and practices. Adopt and practice the concept of continuous improvement. Participate in the enhancement and growth of the Davis-Standard ISO 9000 system. Participate in the enhancement and growth of the EDR/EDS system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Controls and Electrical Engineering Manager

Position Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or similar related 2-year degree required.
  • BSEE with a background in industrial control systems is preferred.
  • Commensurate experience in industrial control system design will be considered in place of a degree.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, experience with AutoCAD-E preferred.
  • Experience designing to UL508A and NFPA 79 codes.
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting, strong preference in a capital equipment business.
  • Working knowledge of AC drive systems including Yaskawa and Allen Bradley PowerFlex drives.
  • Familiarity with PLC based control systems including Rockwell and Siemens PLC’s.
  • Familiarity with the Office 365 suite of applications, emphasis on Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, team player, ability to work well with others.
  • Strong technical aptitude and good analytical skills; organized and detail oriented.
  • Effective communicator using written and verbal communication skills.
