The Piping Foreman oversees the installation of piping systems within a wastewater treatment plant, ensuring safe and efficient operations by supervising a crew, reading plans, and addressing issues.
- Lead, motivate and manage a crew of pipefitters and other workers involved in piping projects
- Plan, schedule and coordinate work activities, including daily, weekly and monthly tasks, and integrate subcontractor work as needed
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications relate to piping systems.
- Perform material take-offs, order materials, and ensure proper inventory management
- Oversee the installation of process piping systems, including large diameter aboveground flanged ductile iron piping systems.
- Posses expertise in rigging piping and equipment and experience with process equipment in a wastewater treatment plant
- Diagnose problems, effect emergency repairs, and ensure that maintenance schedules are consistently applied
- Ensure that all work is performed safely and in accordance with safety regulations
- Communicate effectively with management, fellow employees, and the owners representatives
- Train and mentor other workers on piping techniques and safety procedures
- Maintain records of work performed an prepare reports as required
- Respond to emergency repair calls
- Completes safety planning and ensures safety awareness for the trade specific scope of the project being completed by Adena Corporation
- Cognizant of other trades working on the project to make sure that other work does not in any way put Adena crews in harm's way
- Completes routine project documents including daily work reports, weekly toolbox talks, and job hazard analysis
- Reviews the project schedule on a regular basis to ensure that the project is on or ahead of schedule
- Documents any schedule delays, safety concerns, detrimental site conditions or other issues that affect the ability to perform work in a safe and productive manner
- Understands Adena's scope of work and reviews any "out of scope" work with the project manager before starting the work
- Reviews manpower requirements and works with the manpower managers to assure appropriate personnel are on the project
- Reviews equipment requirements and works with the equipment manager to assure the needed equipment is onsite
- Manages quality of work put in place (both self-performed work and subcontractors)
- Regularly communicates with the owner/client to confirm that the project is meeting owner's expectations
- Adheres to the company's safety policies to create a safe work environment
- Performs other duties as assigned
PM21
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Sufficient education or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training that provides the desired knowledge, skills and characteristics to perform foreman duties
- 30 Hour OSHA Certification or willingness to obtain within ninety (90) days of employment
- Ability to read building blueprints
- Ability to read, follow, and provide input on a construction schedule
- Thorough knowledge of Adena Corporation's safety plan and OSHA regulations
- Must be willing and able to travel to jobsites which may at times require overnight stays away from home
- Must have a good work ethic, and the ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions
- Ability to perform on a regular basis in outside weather conditions consisting of wet, hot, humid and/or freezing temperatures, also contending with dirt and dust
- Must maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to problem solve various situations
- Strong leadership abilities
