Job Overview:
OC Environmental Services, LLC is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Project Coordinator / Safety & Compliance professional with 2-5 years of experience in project coordination and construction safety to support project planning, coordination, and execution while helping maintain the highest standards of workplace safety and regulatory compliance. This hybrid role ensures seamless communication across project teams and promotes a strong safety culture throughout all project phases.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Project Coordination
- Assist with project scheduling, logistics, material procurement, and documentation management.
- Assist in developing and executing project work plans, and schedules.
- Assist in developing project deliverables.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure project alignment.
- Organize and maintain project documentation including permits, reports, and contracts.
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to planning, budgeting, and execution support.
- Other administrative tasks as assigned.
Safety & Compliance
- Promote compliance with safety regulations and company safety policies across all job sites.
- Conduct site safety orientations, inspections, and support daily/weekly safety briefings (e.g., toolbox talks).
- Assist in hazard identification, inspections, audits, and follow-up on corrective actions.
- Maintain and update safety records, training logs, incident reports, and SDS documentation.
- Coordinate and oversee the scheduling and delivery of required training programs for project personnel to ensure compliance and competency.
- Support incident investigations and help compile related documentation for regulatory bodies.
- Coordinate and oversee environmental corrective actions for tenants to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and lease requirements.
- Facilitate community outreach initiatives by engaging with local agencies and organizations.
- Coordinate external training opportunities to support community goals.
Required Skills:
- Understanding of OSHA and AKOSH (or relevant national/provincial safety standards).
- Highly organized with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Must have the ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced, field-oriented environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with internal and external teams.
- Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Must have experience working around heavy equipment.
- Must be able to effectively communicate in verbal and written communications.
- Must be highly self-motivated.
- Must be able to exercise effective time management.
Education & Certifications
- Associate's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field (Preferred).
- Hazardous materials training (Preferred)
- HAZWOPER certification (Preferred)
Position Requirements
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
- Pre-employment drug & alcohol screening and/or random drug screen.
- Pre-employment criminal background history check.
- Must have or be willing to obtain 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.
- HAZWOPER physical and respirator fit test.
Physical Demands:
Work inside and outside. Ability to bend, reach, lift and carry up to 40 lbs. Can work effectively and safely in inclement weather to include high winds, rain, and snow. Most of the field work will occur between April - November. May require travel in helicopter, aircraft, ATVs, and watercraft for short periods of time.
