The assignments for this role will be predominantly around the southwestern Ohio area (Cincinnati, Dayton, Springfield) and will be based out of our Cincinnati, OH Design Center.ResponsibilitiesInspect construction work on transportation and utility infrastructure projects to document conformity to construction standards and specificationsAssist in the coordination between contractors, designers, utilities, and local residentsComplete and maintain records of field observations, including daily reports outlining the work performed, as well as field measurements and computations for the quantity of completed work eligible for paymentPerform material sampling and testing on applicable materials such as soil sampling, compaction tests, concrete tests, etc.Utilize Microsoft Office, Appia, AASHTOWare, and BluebeamOther duties as assignedQualificationsAssociate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Technology or Construction Management, OR a minimum of 9 months (1600 hrs.) of experience in inspection and/or construction (Superintendent, Foreman, Lead Worker, WZTS etc.)Basic knowledge or ability to gain working knowledge of quality requirements for construction materialsAbility to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and standardsStrong interpersonal communications skillsFamiliarity with or an aptitude to learn Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and BluebeamODOT or Local Agency construction inspection experience preferred, but not required.ODOT Prequalified or an ability to obtain certification upon hire.Familiarity with, or an aptitude to learn Construction Administration Software such as AASHTOWare Project and/or AppiaValid Driver's LicenseWilling to work in varying temperatures as most work assignments are outdoors.
