Job Summary

This part-time adjunct faculty will be a part of GateWay Community College's Electrician Apprenticeship program and will teach our apprentice students in this program. The faculty member will oversee and instruct a different student population teaching them electrical safety, theory and hands-on knowledge to prepare our students for the workforce. Please note the classes will be off campus and at an employer partner's work location and safety classes for this employer partner will be required. information will be provided upon hire.

Essential Functions

Supervises and instructs a diverse population of students in both a classroom and shop/lab to prepare students for employment in the field of Electrical; prepares and provides course syllabi and instructional materials for students; evaluates the knowledge/skill gained by students in the program and monitors their scholastic records; prepares and grades exams; keeps appropriate records of testing and grading; maintains student discipline through effective classroom management; maintains a safe, orderly and up-to-date shop/lab area

Assists and responds to problems/requests from students; uses electronic communication to stay in touch with students; serves on collaborative work teams with faculty, staff, administration and community stakeholders; collaborates with other construction faculty to complete educational initiatives; and help with other educational duties as assigned.

Roster verification and assigns grades on time, assist and advise students to enhance their knowledge in the electrical field and performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A master's degree (or higher) in the teaching field (electrical), or a master's in any teaching field with 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field,

OR A bachelor's degree plus three years work experience in the electrical field,

OR Five years work experience in the electrical field

2. Journey level card/license required

3. Springboard to Success faculty training must be completed by the end of the first semester of teaching for all new faculty

Special Working Conditions

Positions in this class typically require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with frequent exposure to hazardous physical conditions (such as mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibration, etc.); frequent exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.); and moderate exposure to extreme temperatures, movement restrictions, intense noise or travel.
