JOB DESCRIPTION:

Perform skilled installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing systems; perform duties in collaboration with other trades areas as required in order to maintain District facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED

Five (5) years of journeyman level plumbing experience

State of Arizona Identity Verified (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card

Valid Arizona Driver's License

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Install new equipment in order to standardize, modernize or accommodate system expansion or modification.

Repair water distribution piping and waste water piping including steam and hot water systems; perform preventative maintenance on plumbing systems.

Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment supporting plumbing system.

Perform evacuation of interceptors and grease traps; perform inspection of natural gas lines and equipment, and fire sprinkler systems.

Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies and promote workplace safety.

Operate pipe cutters, sewer machines, reamers, threading discs, snakes and other plumbing equipment and hand tools.

Work in conjunction with outside vendors or contractors in order to expedite the construction process and receive and maintain stock of materials needed.

Perform preventative maintenance work as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

Knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials common to the plumbing trade and the knowledge to repair electrical equipment supporting plumbing systems

Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes

Knowledge of steam, water, and natural gas distribution systems maintenance and repair

Skill in the installation, repair and maintenance of all types of plumbing systems

Skill in both verbal and written communication

Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships

Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Dangerous machinery and hazardous chemicals

Exposure to extreme weather conditions

Restricted movement, dirty environment

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach

Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds of materials

Must be able to climb to various heights and work in confined spaces

Must be able to drive District vehicle
