Parallax is an architectural planning and design firm specializing in high-end educational facilities for independent K-12 school clients. We are looking for a highly proficient Project Architect to join our team.
The Project Architect we are looking for will be responsible for leading the technical development, documentation and construction-phase support for institutional facilities. The job requires working closely with the firm's Principals to carry design objectives through to a successful finished building.
Specific responsibilities:
Directing the completion of production documents according to a predetermined schedule for Schematic, DD and CD phases
Coordinating the work of engineering and design consultants as necessary to eliminate conflicts and meet the architectural design criteria
Working with the LA Department of Building & Safety and related city agencies to assure project compliance with applicable codes
Obtaining agency clearances and clearing project permits for construction
Answering contractor RFIs during bidding and construction phases
Reviewing shop submittals for compliance with the construction documents and maintaining required records during the project's construction phase
Developing construction details as required to meet project design criteria
Supervising project construction drafting and detailing by Junior and Intermediate production staff
Qualifications:
Registered California Architect
B-Arch from a U.S. College or University with 10+ years of experience producing construction documents for institutional buildings
Understanding of Los Angeles building codes
Knowledge of construction materials, standards and details
Proficiency in AutoCAD; Adobe Creative Suite; Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
Ability to consistently meet deadlines
Strong team leadership skills
Currently living in the Los Angeles area
Must be authorized to work in the US without need for employee sponsorship
