Electrical Harness Design Engineer

Troy, MI

Contract Position

$55.70-$60.70/Hour

Join a team dedicated to designing and producing armored combat and support vehicles. As a prime mover in ground force capabilities, this firm provides innovative solutions that ensure the safety and effectiveness of military personnel worldwide, focusing on durability, mobility, and performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of electrical wiring harnesses for next-generation ground combat vehicles.

  • Select appropriate components including connectors, backshells, sealants, boots, transitions, sleeving, and braiding.

  • Determine harness layout and routing paths, including multi-branch configurations, throughout the vehicle.

  • Ensure designs meet environmental specifications for temperature, vibration, shock, submersion, and chemical exposure.

  • Utilize Capital Harness System (CHS) software (Harness XC, Capital Logic, Capital Topology) to model and document designs.

  • Collaborate with CAD drafters using Pro-E Creo and NX to route harnesses and generate engineering drawings and wiring diagrams.

  • Partner with systems engineering to define vehicle-wide pin-level interconnects.

  • Work with physical architecture teams to define routing channels and space allocations.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum 7 years of post-graduate experience in electrical harness design or a related engineering discipline.

  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law.

  • Must be able to obtain a U.S. security clearance if required.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Proficiency in Capital Harness System (CHS) software including Harness XC, Capital Logic, and Capital Topology.

    • Experience with 3D CAD tools, particularly Pro-E Creo and Siemens NX.

    • Familiarity with Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Office Suite.

    • Experience working in a military or ground combat vehicle environment.

    • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.

    • Willingness to work occasional overtime and weekends as required.
