Currently we have an Associate Design Engineer role open. As a member of the Design Engineering team one will design mechanisms, structures and controls for crane products to meet Link-Belt goals of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and Environmental. Essential functions of the position include:
- Prepare and check complex calculations to determine size, strength or other information limiting or governing the performance and/or design of a new or existing product
- Prepare and check detail drawings for accuracy and conformance to Link-Belt Design policies
- Create layouts of new designs or revisions to existing designs
- Interact with suppliers to obtain component information and establish component specifications
- Prepare and check engineering orders per Link-Belt Design Policies
- Review and revise bill of materials as needed
- Calculate weights and center of gravities for components and assemblies
- Prepare and review assembly drawings for proper fit, completeness including all necessary dimensions
- Investigate and design solutions for sale special request as needed
- Investigate field service issues and make recommendations for corrections
- Support prototype assembly process as needed
- Support manufacturing areas as needed during assembly, welding and machining processes
- Resolve manufacturing issues identified by production engineering, material sourcing, welders and assemblers
- Coordinate the work of other personnel to complete designs
- 4 year college degree in Mechanical and/or Agricultural Engineering
- Minimum of one (1) year of proven design or co-op experience
