PURPOSE OF JOB:

Maintain, install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, and components of machinery and equipment, structures, facilities, power and control systems and tools following electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints as needed to meet production needs. Troubleshoot and repair of complex equipment and distribution systems, involving work of a varied nature with minimum supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all tasks in a safe manner. Be a role model and advocate for safety among co-workers
  • Perform all tasks in an environmentally responsible manner
  • Perform preventive and predictive electrical maintenance tasks as assigned
  • Perform general electrical maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisor
  • Perform general mechanical tasks
  • Install and rearrange complex equipment
  • Diagnose complex equipment failures
  • Dismantle, repair and reassemble complex equipment
  • Completes minor repairs of motors, drives, and electrical components
  • Complete routine paper and/or computer work (work orders, work hours, parts, etc.)
  • Assist supervisor, planner and manager in the planning and scheduling of electrical work
  • Strong level of skill in the use of typical electrician’s tools, equipment, and inspection gauges
  • Work from drawings, verbal instructions or sketches
  • Use shop math on a routine basis
  • Operate man-lifts, scissor lifts, cranes, and forklifts as required
  • Able to operate production equipment as required
  • Ensure shop areas, work areas, parts, tools etc. are kept clean and orderly
  • Work overtime as needed
  • Work on-call coverage as required

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Oregon Limited Journeyman Manufacturing Plant Electrician license required; Oregon General Journeyman License preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical field; heavy industrial setting preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Strong understanding of electricity and power distribution systems.
  • Strong understanding of controls: start/stop, motor controls
  • Able to start, stop and operate all equipment
  • Good computer skills (entering work hours, work orders, parts usage, excel, and word)
  • Good communication skills (written and oral)
  • Gather and analyze information skillfully and with alternate solutions in mind when necessary
  • Familiarity with working on ladders, scaffolds and in confined spaces/pits
  • Strong mechanical aptitude. .
  • Forklift, man lift, and scissor lift experience preferred, but not required.
  • PLC knowledge preferred
  • Comply with all corporate policies and the Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) while working.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in-group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane, solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts, such as, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.
