Placer County is currently accepting applications for the - Tahoe Engineering Division and the (Engineering & Surveying Division).

Department of Public Works - Tahoe Engineering Division: This division is responsible for designing, permitting and constructing various transportation and infrastructure improvement projects ranging from roadway improvements to multimodal infrastructure such as multi-use paths and transit/mobility hubs. Additionally, this division is responsible for encroachments, private land development review, traffic safety and operations, and parking management in the Eastern Placer region. Ideal candidates will be goal driven, solution oriented, and possess excellent project management and communication skills.

Community Development Resource Agency - Engineering & Surveying Division: This Division provides review and oversight of grading, drainage, water quality, and site infrastructure improvements for private land development projects; issues Grading Permits; oversees permitted surface mining operations; assigns addresses; and reviews and records maps for the subdivision of land within the unincorporated areas of Placer County. The ideal candidate will possess the technical skills necessary to interpret and apply County standards to civil engineering plan sets and various technical reports, along with strong written and verbal skills to communicate with various departments, engineers, applicants, and developers, as well as represent the Engineering and Surveying Division at public hearings.

Salary:

$51.49 - $64.31/hour; $8,924.93 - $11,147.07/month; $107,099.20 - $133,764.80/year

*Tahoe Branch Assignment Premium: Salary plus up to an additional $1,000 per month Tahoe Branch Assignment Premium for employees who are permanently assigned to a position located in the North Lake Tahoe Area.

These continuous recruitments will remain open for the calendar year, or until the final filing date, whichever occurs first. The eligible lists established from these continuous recruitments will expire by the end of the calendar year. Applicants will be eligible to reapply and take an examination if new recruitments open the following calendar year.

Applications will be screened on a bi-weekly basis.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience: Two years of responsible professional engineering experience performing duties similar to an with Placer County.

Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field.

Note: Relevant, equivalent experience (performing the same or similar job requiring similar knowledge, skills, and abilities) may be substituted for the required education as determined by the Human Resources Department.

Applicants receiving their degree outside the United States must submit proof of accreditation by a recognized evaluation agency.

Required License or Certificate:

  • Possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in an appropriate discipline as issued by the State of California.
  • May need to possess a valid driver's license as required depending on the position. Proof of adequate vehicle insurance and medical clearance may also be required.
