Equipment Operator (Sewer Collection)

The Sanitary Sewers department is tasked with operation, maintenance, and repair of the City's sanitary sewer system; performing rehabilitation of the sanitary sewer infrastructure; monitoring the work of contractors. The Equipment Operator is an entry-level position and serves as the member of a crew in the performance of field duties, assignments, assessments, and rehabilitation of the sanitary sewer system. The Equipment Operator may also be required to work within any part of the Underground Utilities department, as directed.As a public employee this position is responsible for providing reliable delivery of utility services. This position requires consistent and prompt response to emergency repairs that occur outside of normal workdays and shifts.Job Dimensions:Primary responsibilities for this position performing operation and maintenance of the sanitary sewer system; performing locate services for all City utilities (water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer) infrastructure; effectively and safely operate heavy and light construction equipment and the mechanical and electronic equipment used in the performance of job duties such as, but not limited to, vehicles, CCTV equipment, sewer grouting equipment, sewer cleaning equipment, dump trucks, excavation equipment, GPS equipment and locating equipment; communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors; respond to citizens and customers in an effective and respectful manner; follow City policies and procedures.Secondary responsibilities include performing tasks that require similar skills in the operations and maintenance of the water distribution and metering systems; snow removal as directed; assisting other departments in the performance of their job duties as directed.Qualifications:High school diploma or GED equivalentValid class B CDL with tanker and air brake endorsement or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.Experience in the Underground Utilities or other closely related experience (construction, plumbing, HVAC, electrical or similar) is desirable.Possession or the ability to possess, an Ohio EPA Class I Collections license within 18 months of hire.Maintain residency as required by the city.Other Desired Qualification/SkillsExtensive knowledge of water distribution, sanitary collection systems, and storm sewer collection systems.To apply for the position submit a completed application to Human Resources at 201 W.
