Design Engineer II

Provide all design engineering drawings and documents as related to customer orders, support manufacturing efforts and provide customer support on all Electrical Distribution Division (EDD) products.

Essential Functions
  • Oversee the preparation of all technical documents (ex. drawings, BOM, IB, etc.) required to support order placements, manufacturing/assembly operations, and customer needs.
  • Prepare design direction and clarification as required to the Designers.
  • (covered in bullet below)Develop product BOM and design drawings to support customer's technical requirements, and coordinate design with production, purchasing, quality personnel.
  • Coordinate outside design efforts consistent with EDD products and goals.
  • Develop and design concepts and work with Designers to complete designs.
  • Assist Manufacturing and Quality with identification and resolution of production problems.
  • Recommend and implement design improvements and cost reductions.
  • Assure resolution of all customer technical questions.
  • Act as project leader for design, test, and prototype programs as assigned.
  • Coordinate prototype efforts with others as needed.
  • Work with vendors to resolve technical design issues
  • Travel to customer's site and/or trade shows to provide product support and training as required.
  • Recommend and implement design improvements and cost reductions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 3 to 5 years of experience in a design/application engineering capacity, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical transmission and distribution products.
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communicate with customers, vendors and employees.
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and on several projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to read, understand and create technical documents.
  • Advanced computer skills emphasizing Microsoft Office products, CAD and ERP systems.
