Plans Examiner Or Senior Plans Examiner

The Plans Examiner and Senior Plans Examiner facilitate coordination of the building plan review process to include reviewing permit applications and construction drawings, and documentation, including serving as Builder on Duty. The position may also perform code compliance inspections of commercial and residential construction projects, as needed. This position acts as back-up to the Chief Building Official, as needed.

Hiring Salary Ranges:

Plans Examiner- $76,029 - $91,235. The maximum pay for this position is $106,441.

Senior Plans Examiner- $81,926 - $100,359. The maximum pay for this position is $118,792.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm- (in-person with some flexibility)

Plans Examiner

Qualifications:

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification, or Registration:

  • At least three (3) years of experience in building trades, building inspector, and/or public/private construction code compliance.
  • Certification as a Residential Plans Examiner through the International Code Council required.
  • Certification as a Building Plans Examiner through the International Code Council preferred, or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Certification as Building Inspector, Mechanical Inspector and Plumbing Inspector certification is required through the International Code Council, or the ability to obtain within 18 months of hire.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience reading and interpreting construction drawings, technical specifications, and building codes and standards documents preferred.
  • Electronic plan review experience and knowledge would be beneficial.
  • Requires a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.

Senior Plans Examiner
