Lead Carpenter\
The Lead Carpenter is the point person on the jobsite, managing and
directing tasks of all crew members and subcontractors on site to ensure
efficiency and productivity. The role of the Lead Carpenter is to
provide on-site support to ensure that the project is executed in line
with the agreed schedule and budget. The Lead Carpenter needs to have
the carpentry skills listed in the Carpenter job description, along with
the managerial skills to actively manage and supervise all jobsite crew
members, including subcontractors.\
h. Responsibilities\
Provides leadership to ensure that the crew is working together
efficiently toward defined project goals\
Sets a positive example for the jobsite team by actively supporting
everyone on the crew, regardless of skill level, and never openly
criticizing other members of the project team\
Ensures that all crew members understand which job cost code to track
time against on timesheets, and reviewing crew timesheets on a weekly
basis to check for accuracy\
Facilitates a 2-5 min. crew meeting at the end of each day to answer
questions and make sure time is accurately tracked\
Consistently arrives at the jobsite on time, works within daily start
and stop times, and takes break and lunch with crew\
Organizes the workday and workflow to minimize overtime\
Coordinates with subcontractors to make sure they show up when needed,
have the necessary on-site support, and are informed promptly of any
schedule changes\
Prepares the jobsite for subcontractors\
Requests support from the Production Manager or Architect as needed to
answer design intent and documentation questions\
Runs weekly client meetings, and recording and shares meeting notes
promptly with all participants\
Takes initiative to solve project problems and maintain high standards;
involves the Project Manager, Production Manager, or Architect for
additional support only when needed\
Keeps the jobsite stocked with required materials with three or fewer
supplier trips per week\
Works with Project Manager or Production Manager to make sure special
orders arrive on time and are installed properly\
Works with Project Manager, Production Manager, or Bookkeeper to
generate change orders; notifies Project Manager or Production Manager
when client requests a change so that paperwork can be presented to
client for signature prior to starting additional work\

Works with Project Manager or Production Manager to understand budget
and hold to it\
Works with Project Manager or Production Manager to understand schedule,
update it, hold to it, and communicate clearly and in a timely fashion
any anticipated delays in completion date, and reasons for delays\
Maintains personal, jobsite, and crew safety at all times\
Ensures that the jobsite is clean at the end of the day and
well-organized during the day\
Keeps a reliable jobsite notebook, and informing the client and other
project team members promptly about issues of importance\
Responds to client requests quickly and professionally and solicits
Project Manager, Production Manager, or Architect help with those
requests if needed\
Schedules and oversees required building inspections\
Collects payments from client when applicable and delivering them
promptly to the office\
Ensures completion of all punch list and job close-out tasks\
Ensures good communication and prompt response to calls/texts/emails
from the client and others on the project team\
Coordinates with Production Manager and other Lead Carpenters to
schedule crew efficiently across all ongoing projects\
Submits coded receipts to the office in a reliable and timely fashion\
Acquires and maintains all licenses required by state or local
jurisdictions
