Fleming Steel CompanyField Superintendent - Job DescriptionFleming Steel Company designs, fabricates and installs aircraft hangar doors and large industrial doors. Fleming also services and repairs large doors.Our Field Superintendents are responsible for the installation of the doors, and when necessary, for the service and/or repair of doors.The ideal candidate should have experience assembling and erecting structural steel as well as a good working knowledge of industrial electricity. This entails the following:1. Knowledge of material handling using cranes and forklifts of all types.2. Experience in supervising field erection crews comprised of Ironworkers, Operating Engineers and Electricians.3. Have welding experience. Mostly stick welding, but some knowledge of MIG welding is beneficial.4. Be available and willing to travel to the job site. Most of our work is in theUnited States, however, on occasion, our work is overseas. Installation times vary from a few weeks to a few months.1. Must be able to pass a full blown background investigation. This is required on some sites for security issues, particularly at large airports and military bases.2. A working knowledge of industrial electricity, including control circuitry. This is necessary because our Field Superintendents get involved in the initial start up of our equipment immediately after installation. Also, we do encounter situations where we are called upon to go into the field to find and repair electrical problems.3. Must be able to read blueprints; detail drawings, general arrangement drawing and electrical schematics.4. Should be experienced in dealing with customers in a professional manner. Often times, our Field Superintendents are the only face our clients see.5. Must have experience in managing assets assigned to a project. We establish field budgets (both time and money budgets) at the time of the sale. It is the responsibility of our Field Superintendent to ensure that his project is in keeping with the established budgets.The position is salaried. Also included is the benefit package (medical, etc.) . Salary is negotiable depending on the candidate. When assigned a project, often, weekend travel is required. Also, there are times when holiday travel is required. When on a project, the successful candidate will, on occasion, be required to work more than 40 hours per week. No overtime is paid. The salary for this position is paid, every two weeks, whether the man is on a project or not. In other words, the overtime hours worked on job sites throughout the year are normally offset by the time off at home between projects.
