Most job responsibilities require previous experience onequipment and similar work procedures. Employees in this classificationwork from general instructions and will have some responsibility forordering tasks and determining what procedures to apply. Employees mayencounter some new situations requiring new solutions. The employee isresponsible for following established safety practices while performingassigned duties to protect self, co- workers and the public frompersonal injury and to prevent damage to Authority property. Thisposition is a bargaining unit position that is represented byInternational Union of Operating Engineers, Local 542ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides expert level maintenancesupport in electrical field (e.g., HVAC, electrical, informationtechnology, electronics, marine vessels, carpentry, automotive)Troubleshoots the most complex problems and issues Provides primaryexpertise on projects and tasks (such as scope and project budgeting)Conducts preventative maintenance Emergency response (24/7) to anyAuthority location May be responsible for directing and inspecting workof assigned personnel Develops and maintains various electricalpreventative maintenance programs and protocols related to Authorityassets, equipment and facilities Ability to provide excellent customerservice to internal and external customers Ability to perform otherassigned duties as requiredREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Expert level knowledge ofelectrical field Full understanding of relevant Authority policies andprocedures Knowledge of all relevant federal, state, local and Authoritysafety regulations and procedures Knowledge of state laws pertaining tothe operation of motor vehicles on public roadways Complies with allrequirements of Federal Drug & Alcohol Testing Program at all timesAbility to lead work crew, coach employees and provide on-the-jobtraining In order to be classified at this level, individuals must berecognized as fully competent based on external accreditation andcertification in addition to his/her license Ability to workindependently on complex electrical system diagnosis and repairKnowledge of procurement procedures Ability to read and interpretconstruction drawings, wiring diagrams and specifications Ability toread work orders and translate them to work plans Must be capable oflifting and carrying up to 50 pounds at least 20 yards Must be capableof performing around hazardous situations such as moving heavyequipment, in and around equipment, at heights, on steep grades, and onladders and uneven surfaces Must be capable of wearing appropriatepersonal protection equipment such as hard hats, protective shoes andclothing, aprons, gloves, eye wear, hearing protection and respiratorsMust be capable of performing repetitive motions such as grasping,reaching, bending, lifting, twisting, pushing, pulling and climbingAbility to work in a variety of adverse weather conditions includingextreme heat or cold and/or emergency conditions Effective oral andwritten communication skills (including listening skills) Stronginterpersonal and relational skills with the ability to establish andmaintain effective professional relationships with Authority personneland external to customers, vendors, etc.; provides the highest level ofcustomer service and professionalism to all internal and externalcustomers Ability to perform other assigned duties as required IV.TYPICAL WORK ENVIRONMENTS Landscaping and grounds keeping Roadways,airports, and bridges Custodial/general building maintenancePainting/rigging Vessel maintenance Piers, docks, and wharfs Crafts(i.e., carpentry, electric, automotive, HVA ) Emergency response (i.e.,snow removal) Heavy Equipment
