What this job involves - The Fire Life Safety (FLS) Technician is responsible for the proactive maintenance and support of building fire alarm and suppression systems, ensuring their optimal functionality and adherence to safety regulations. This role involves independent execution of maintenance duties under the direction of management, contributing directly to the overall safety and operational efficiency of the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspection of building fire alarm system components, including smoke detectors, pull stations, and visual/audible notification devices.
  • Maintain the integrity of building fire sprinkler system components, such as control valves, supervisory switches, and pressure gauges.
  • Efficiently initiate, track, and complete assigned work orders within established timelines.
  • Oversee and provide clear direction to external vendors performing FLS system repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Obtain competitive repair quotations from qualified vendors and rigorously verify the thorough completion of contracted work.
  • Execute necessary repairs as directed by management and in accordance with relevant building codes and client specifications.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team to identify, document, and resolve any identified FLS system deficiencies.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management to support the operational needs of the facility.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two (2) years of directly relevant experience in the operation, installation, and maintenance of building systems, with a comprehensive technical understanding of Fire Life Safety systems.
  • Associates Degree or formal completion of a recognized certified technical or trade school program in a relevant discipline.
