The City of Marinette is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to serve as the Superintendent of Public Works . This leadership position is responsible for planning, directing, supervising, and coordinating the operations, maintenance, and repair of the municipalitys public infrastructure. Areas of oversight includes streets, storm sewer systems, water distribution systems, parks, and forestry operations. Key responsibilities : Lead and manage daily operations of the Public Works Department; Supervise staff involved in construction, repair, and maintenance activities across all assigned areas: Develop and implement short- and long-term plans for infrastructure improvements and maintenance; Oversee municipal parks and forestry programs, ensuring safety, aesthetics, and functionality; Manage department budgets, contracts, equipment and materials; Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; Respond to public inquiries and service requests in a professional and timely manner; Coordinate with other municipal departments, contractors, and utility providers as needed; and Prepare reports and provide recommendations to municipal leadership on department needs and priorities.
Job Description view at Qualifications : High school diploma or equivalent (Vocational/technical training in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred); Minimum of six years of progressive experience in public works operations, including supervisory/project management, public works maintenance/construction, and a proven track record of strong leadership. Strong knowledge of public infrastructure systems, equipment and safety protocols. Attendance after normal work hours will be required for evening meetings or emergency situations and as necessary. Valid WI drivers license.
Residency : Establish residency within 30 (thirty) miles of the jurisdictional boundary of the City of Marinette in the State of Wisconsin within six months of hire.
