Job Description
TITLE: Carpenter/Locksmith
POSTION TYPE: CRAFTS
HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:
Required:
1. High School Diploma, HiSET, or GED
2. Minimum four years training/experience
3. Valid Driver’s License and vehicle access for daily travel
4. Effective verbal and written communication skills with strong command of the English Language
5. Organization, problem solving andprioritizing skills
6. Maintain good working relationships with co-workers
7. Ability to work independently with little supervision
8. Operation of numerous hand and electric tools and equipment
9. Broad range of experience in carpentry and locksmith skills, including the installation of interior finishes and
office furniture
10. Ability to read blueprints and calculate materials
11. On call 24 hours for emergency situations
12. Competency working in a culturally diverse environment or the willingness to acquire these skills
BASIC FUNCTION: Carries out the policies and procedures set forth by facility management. Is skilled in all technical aspects of job and is able to perform tasks as well as supervise others. Including but not limited to: general construction, installation of wood and tile floors, door checks, installation of shop equipment, and locks. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the facility services department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provide prompt, courteous, and excellent service.
2. Perform carpenter related tasks which include the building, installing, and removing items from
district facilities as determined by the carpenter foreman.
3. Install interior building finishes (i.e.: door hardware, ceiling tile, carpet and floor tile)
4. Repair and weld metal tables, chairs, and other items within the district as needed.
5. Install office furniture.
6. Perform typical locksmith tasks as determined by the carpenter foreman.
7. Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
8. Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
9. Maintain confidentiality.
10. Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other
employees.
11. Assist with all other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Constant standing, frequent walking, bending/stooping/reaching/pushing/pulling, climing, driving. Occasional lifting up to 100lbs and carrying 50 lbs up to 20 ft.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Frequently inside, outside, and extremes of temperature/humidity
