Join Our Team as the Plans Examiner

The Town of Hilton Head Island is seeking a skilled and experienced Plans Examiner to conduct comprehensive reviews of commercial and residential plans to ensure compliance with currently adopted codes, floodplain requirements, and Town of Hilton Head Island Municipal Codes.

What You Will Do

• Conducts comprehensive reviews of commercial and residential plans to ensure code compliance;
• Interprets codes and regulations and explains permit and compliance conditions;
• Maintains complete and accurate records of all inspections and any regulatory actions taken;
• Confers and provides information regarding code requirements to developers, engineers, architects, property owners, the public, and other interested parties as required;
• Addresses any complaints or problems from concerned parties and take appropriate measures to ensure an expedient resolution or customer satisfaction in a timely and courteous manner;
• Conducts site visits for projects under review;
• Provides public awareness classes and discussions for building code;

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Five (5) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid Driver's license
• International Code Council (ICC) Certification for Plans Examiner in Residential and Commercial Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, and Electrical or ICC Certification as a Certified Building Official

Position Salary Range: $69,700 - $108,000 / annual DOQ
