GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving the growth of Stancil's residential and custom home business by identifying new opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and leading sales initiatives across drywall, paint, and plumbing trades. This position will play a critical role in expanding market share, improving client experience, and representing the company's core values.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Own the full sales cycle from lead generation through contract close and operational handoff.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for new residential and custom builder clients.
- Build strong, trust-based relationships across all levels of the client organization.
- Call on production and custom builders regularly to develop and maintain strong account relationships.
- Resolve client issues professionally, quickly, and in a manner that builds confidence in Stancil.
- Identify market opportunities and actively pursue new builder accounts to grow territory.
- Develop and execute a territory growth strategy in partnership with the VP of Growth and Strategy.
- Proactively communicate progress, pipeline status, and revenue projections.
- Collaborate closely with estimating, operations, and field teams to ensure aligned expectations and a smooth transition from sales to project execution.
- Maintain and manage a healthy sales pipeline using CRM software, ensuring consistent documentation and activity tracking.
- Monitor competitors, pricing, and market trends to identify risks and advantages.
- Attend and actively participate in builder associations and community events.
- Educate clients on Stancil processes, capabilities, and differentiators.
- Facilitates cross-functional communication between estimating, field, and billing teams to ensure cohesive service delivery and issue resolution.
- Achieve or exceed goals for revenue growth, new business, and gross profit.
STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
- Meets or exceeds targets for revenue, gross profit, and new client development.
- Demonstrates consistent, professional, and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintains accurate records in CRM and reports pipeline activity regularly.
- Analyzes business results using financial and performance metrics.
- Works collaboratively with estimating and operations teams to ensure alignment and client satisfaction.
- Takes initiative and maintains ownership of responsibilities without constant oversight.
- Embraces change and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment.
- Maintains a strong presence in the field and community to support visibility and relationship building.
- This is a field-based role requiring regular visits to job sites, builder offices, and industry events.
- Expected to be actively involved in continuing education and professional development through builder associations and industry training events.
- Works in a manner that promotes team atmosphere and always represents Stancil in a professional and positive light.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
- Bachelor's degree in business or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of account management, sales, or business development experience.
- Residential construction industry experience highly preferred.
- Sage and CRM system experience a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally.
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to maintain focus and productivity in a sedentary role for extended periods (approximately 75% of the time).
- Regularly operate computers and office machinery with precision and efficiency.
- Physical ability to navigate multi-level workspaces, including ascending and descending stairs as needed.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS
- Primarily an office-based role, with extended periods of work at a desk and computer.
- Occasional travel to on-site locations to oversee operations or represent the organization.
- Must be able to lift and carry materials up to 15 pounds as required.
- Valid driver's license and insurable with company insurance policy
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
- Computer, smartphone, CRM platforms, forecasting software, Microsoft Office Suite, and presentation tools (experience with Procore, Builder trend or similar platforms)
