Archimaera Architecture is an award-winning New York City-based multidisciplinary design and architecture firm, and we're looking for a motivated, talented and industrious Intermediate Architect to join us.
Our work encompasses a wide range of typologies and scales including ground up mixed-use and multi-family building, commercial office buildings, hospitality projects, single family homes, and master-planning.
Our team leverages their considerable experience and skill to create buildings and spaces that are exceptionally well-made, urbanistically considerate, and informed by an intent to enhance the experience of both the public ream and the building occupants alike. Our design process is non-dogmatic, intensely collaborative, and is focused on understanding and responding to project specific characteristics for each project.
We embrace the role of craft and the realities of building in the real world in order to most surely zero in on appropriate design, programmatic and technical solutions for each project, and our practice of sustainable design is thoughtfully incorporated into all our work in progressive and innovative ways.
The candidate we're looking for has strong design and technical skills and a range of local experience. They will work alongside Project Managers and Principals to execute architectural designs through all of the project phases. The position will be responsible for taking a leadership role on multiple projects at various scales, and will include mentoring and managing junior staff throughout all project phases.

Candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications:
Professional Degree (B.Arch or M.Arch).
Eligibility to work in the United States.
Minimum of 4 years of relevant architectural design experience in a professional environment.
NYC Metro area residency for regular office attendance, site visits and meetings.
Experience and comfort with running a project from initial concept through Construction Administration under the supervision of a Project Manager, including mentoring of junior staff.
Ability to prioritize effectively and manage various projects concurrently.
Ability to communicate clear design ideas and direction quickly and concisely.
Ability to work professionally and reliably in collaboration with a team.
Meticulous attention to detail and a passion for design excellence.
Strong professional level proficiency (at least 4 years of professional experience) with BIM modelling and CAD, Adobe Creative Suite, proficiency with Rhino or Sketchup, and an ability to pick up new software quickly.
Ability to maintain and optimize the efficiency and accuracy of BIM models.
Experience with and ability to structure and produce well-coordinated construction documents.
Experience coordinating with consultants during DD, CD and CA phases, including a functional knowledge of structure, MEP and energy modeling basics.
Knowledge of architectural detailing including comfort and familiarity with design and documentation of custom elements.
Experience with Construction Administration including coordination with trades and consultants in the field, submittal and shop drawings reviews, and issuing of construction sketches.
Strong 2D and 3D skills including a demonstrable skill for clear graphical presentations.
The Role will include the following duties and responsibilities:
3D modeling and drafting for design, coordination and documentation purposes.
Leading a team and participating in preparation of design documentation, including translating project concepts and technical details into engaging visuals for client presentations, DOB filing sets and construction documents.
Understanding and assisting in developing creative concepts and solutions for project specific problems.
Overseeing project team members to check and coordinate details and dimensions in drawings and models.
Mentoring junior staff.
Initiating and conducting research on materials, buildings codes, zoning laws and other regulations to ensure compliance.
Collaborating across disciplines and trades to ensure well-coordinated projects.
Contribute to the life and culture of the office.
