GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Assist in the production of steel products by performing a variety of duties. Candidates will perform an array of tasks such as housekeeping, following safety requirements, cutting steel, moving materials throughout the facility. Responsible for cutting welded assemblies to blueprint specifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers

Ability to make mathematical calculations

Ability to detect and reconcile discrepancies

Excellent time management skills

Ability to read production drawings

Must have clear knowledge of basic measurements and the ability to read a tape measure within 16th of an inch

Must be able to use a wide variety of tools, including but not limited to hammer, measuring tape, drill press, band saw, ironworker

Maintain good housekeeping and always follow safety policies and procedures

Perform additional duties as requested or required

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required

Must be able to pass welding test for GMAW and SMAW

Previous work experience in cutting and welding

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Physically able to lift up to 75 lbs, occasionally

Physically able to push, pull, lift, bend, climb, kneel, twist, squat, crawl and use hands/forearms repetitively and frequently

Ability to move around for up to 12 hours per day

Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, swing stages and man lifts at various heights frequently

WORKING CONDITIONS

Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles

Employees must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as work boots, hard hats, work gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection

Moderate to high risk of exposure to unusual elements

Moderate to high risk of safety precautions

Moderate to high exposure to production environment

Wet, hot, humid, and wintry conditions (weather related) (plant specific)

Ability to work outside year-round (plant specific)
