Engineering/Planning/Surveying Technician V

Job Description

This position is responsible for supervising the Statewide Quality Assurance Unit (Field Control) which includes technicians working out of the Dover and Bear facilities. The individual in this position is responsible for ensuring soil, aggregate, and bituminous materials are adequately and accurately tested on active project sites. This position requires working with colleagues, construction inspectors, and engineers to develop solutions to field issues. Lifting and carrying of up to 50lbs, working nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime on short notice is required in this position.

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Engineering/Planning/Surveying Technician V

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

Engineering Support Materials & Research:

Three years experience in construction material testing and laboratory or field sampling procedures and equipment used in testing highway construction materials such as soils, aggregates, asphalt, hot-mix/warm-mix asphalt, Portland cement, or Portland cement concrete.

Three years experience in developing analytical and technical documents such as reports, maps, or geographical representations of data.

Three years experience in interpreting standard test procedures, specifications, and plan documents or technical drawings.

Two years experience in project management which includes planning, developing, implementing, managing and evaluating project or testing requirements to ensure objectives are met.

One year experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.

One year experience in contract management and control which includes ensuring compliance with terms of contracts; negotiating changes to existing contracts.

One year experience in developing and reviewing highway construction designs, plans, specifications, studies, or surveys.

Six months experience in staff supervision which includes planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others.

Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
