Job Description

As a Survey Crew Chief, you will work both independently and collaboratively with crew members to conduct field survey work related to boundary surveys, ALTA/ACSM Land Title surveys, topographic surveys, photo control surveys, route surveys, and construction stakeout. You will operate under the responsible charge of the Registered Professional Surveyor, ensuring the efficient operation of the field crew using standard operating procedures and current health and safety standards. Daily duties include operating robotic total stations and GPS receivers to collect relevant data and information accurately and concisely, cutting brush, driving stakes, taking detailed notes and diagrams, and maintaining company equipment and survey vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field survey work for various types of surveys including boundary surveys, ALTA/ACSM Land Title surveys, topographic surveys, photo control surveys, route surveys, and construction stakeout.
• Operate robotic total stations and GPS receivers to accurately collect data.
• Ensure efficient operation of the field crew using standard operating procedures.
• Cut brush, drive stakes, and take detailed notes and diagrams.
• Maintain company equipment and survey vehicles.
• Adhere to current health and safety standards.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in surveying, topography, and land surveying techniques.
• Experience with Trimble GPS and Total Station equipment.
• 5+ years of survey crew chief experience.
• Skilled in using GPS devices, data collectors, and Total Station.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative.
• Knowledge of land surveying principles, techniques, and practices.
• Understanding of computer-aided drafting principles and practices.
• Knowledge of civil engineering principles and construction specifications.
• Familiarity with industry-specific safe workplace principles and practices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to operate motorized equipment.
• Experience working outdoors under various field conditions.
• Valid Driver's License.

Work Environment

The role is field-based and does not require reporting to the office. Tasks are assigned at the first of the week, with reports and hours logged virtually through a company laptop. You will have access to a truck, phone, and computer, and there is support for pursuing further education or licensing. The company is moving toward drone work, offering the opportunity to grow with the support of a large corporation.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $56000.00 - $75000.00/yr.
