ABOUT THE JOB
MU Health Care is looking for a safety-focused, detail-obsessed Fire Alarm Systems Specialist who's passionate about protecting people and property. This role may include testing, maintenance and repair of fire alarm systems including smoke detectors, magnetic door hold open devices, fixed fire suppression systems, manual fire alarm boxes, and fire alarm panels. Inspect, test, clean, maintain and keep records in accordance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards. Assist with troubleshooting fire alarm system malfunctions.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
Installs, maintains, and repairs AC and DC electrical wiring systems, power sources, laboratory equipment, and other components such as conduit, electrical panels, signal and alarm systems, lighting, receptacles, relays and controls, motors, generators, rectifiers, transformers, electric meters, etc. May replace interior and exterior lamps as necessary at varying heights.
Performs installation, maintenance, and repair on overhead and underground electrical circuits and components. May perform oiling, cleaning, brush replacement, and other repair of equipment as required. May install, maintain, and repair circuits and equipment involving electronic components. Trouble shoot equipment, utilizing testing devices.
Clean, maintain, safely operate and properly store all tools and equipment.
May perform or assist in performance of any of the following: preparation of cost estimates, preparation of material orders, maintenance of records, and preparation of reports.
Observe and enforce all safety requirements related to equipment operation.
Due to necessary fluctuations of workloads in the skill area, an incumbent in this class may be required, on an occasional basis and according to need, to perform duties outside his/her trade area. Normal safety requirements, scheduling and the most efficient use of staff and equipment are taken into consideration in such assignments.
Perform related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
Actual work experience and/or training, such as an apprenticeship or vocational training, in the trade.
A valid driver's license may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and may require ambulating, remaining in a stationary position and positioning self to reach and/or move objects above the shoulders and below the knees. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
