Job Description:
Overview:
We are seeking a driven and experienced Project Manager to lead the planning, design, and implementation of nature-based solutions (NBS) focused on stormwater management. In this role, you will apply your expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling, sustainable infrastructure design, and regulatory compliance to develop resilient, environmentally responsible projects. Youll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver green infrastructure that enhances stormwater performance, supports ecological health, and meets community needs.
Responsibilities:
Design & Technical Leadership
Develop conceptual and detailed designs for green infrastructure elements including rain gardens, bioswales, constructed wetlands, and permeable pavements
Integrate NBS and low impact development (LID) techniques into conventional infrastructure projects
Conduct comprehensive H&H studies to inform flood mitigation, erosion control, and stormwater strategies
Model and optimize drainage systems using software such as HEC-RAS, SWMM, and similar tools
Perform site grading and drainage calculations to manage runoff and enhance water quality
Regulatory & Documentation
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations, including MS4 permitting, floodplain requirements, and the Clean Water Act
Prepare technical reports, stormwater analyses, and supporting documents for permitting and agency review
Maintain organized project records, including modeling data, site assessments, and stakeholder input
Stakeholder Engagement & Project Management
Collaborate with agencies, developers, nonprofits, and community groups to communicate project goals and timelines
Lead or support public meetings and workshops, incorporating feedback on flood risk and green infrastructure opportunities
Oversee contractors and construction teams to ensure NBS elements are built to spec, on time, and within budget
Conduct site inspections, review submittals, and implement design adjustments as needed
Manage project plans, budgets, and cost estimates from concept through construction
Monitoring & Sustainability
Establish post-construction monitoring protocols to evaluate long-term performance of stormwater features
Develop adaptive management plans that support ongoing functionality and ecological value
Contribute to grant writing and pursue funding opportunities related to resilience and flood mitigation
Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
57 years of experience in stormwater management, H&H modeling, and LID or green infrastructure projects
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and modeling tools (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM)
Experience interpreting and applying local, state, and federal stormwater regulations
Familiarity with GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS) for spatial analysis and planning
Knowledge of design standards such as LEED, Envision, or SITES
Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical content for diverse audiences
Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams, budgets, and project schedules
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with ecological restoration, habitat enhancement, or coastal resilience projects
Background in community engagement and public education on stormwater or flood issues
