Summary
An operator and labor position which drives dump trucks, operates mowing equipment, weed eaters etc. in the maintenance of the City creeks, drainage channels, detention ponds, and storm drain systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Drives various trucks to haul dirt, gravel, debris, and other material and equipment used in the maintenance and construction of City creeks and drainage systems, and demolition of condemned buildings
- Operates lawn mowers and weed eaters in the maintenance of City detention ponds and drainage channels
- Uses hand tools in manual labor tasks associated with maintenance and construction projects such as cutting up trees, shoveling, hammering stakes, and picking and sweeping
- Performs normal preventative maintenance such as cleaning, greasing and oiling trucks and equipment. Includes use of shovel and pick to dislodge mud from truck beds and loader buckets
- Other miscellaneous duties: flag traffic, set up cones and barricades, fill sandbags
- During emergency situations sands icy streets and oil spills, cuts fallen trees
- Follows City policies, procedures, safety guidelines
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- For internal candidates: One (1) year of City of Temple experience

Class A CDL
Flagger Training
TXLTAP Training in Construction Equipment - 32 hours
External Candidates
Class A CDL
Flagger Training within 6 months
TXLTAP Training in Construction Equipment OR Two (2) years of outside experience in truck driving and light equipment then 32 hours TXLTAP within six (6) months
