Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer with deep expertise in electro-mechanical medical devices, particularly Class II respiratory systems, to support the development and optimization of pressure swing adsorption (PSA) systems. This is a contract position with flexible hours and the potential for remote work after an initial onsite period. The commitment ranges from 10 to 40 hours per week over a duration of 3 to 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to prototype, build, and test PSA systems.
  • Characterize and optimize system performance, particularly around compressor integration.
  • Interface with compressor suppliers to refine component selection and performance.
  • Lead efforts in performance improvements and electronic control circuit integration for piston compressors.
  • Document and adhere to medical device design control processes.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in medical device development under design control regulations.
  • Proven experience with WOB-L pumps and other piston compressors.
  • Strong understanding of compressor operation, design, and control systems.
  • Familiarity with Class II medical devices, especially respiratory devices such as ventilators, CPAPs, high-flow oxygen systems, or oxygen concentrators.
  • Hands-on lab experience with prototyping, testing, and system integration.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in medical device design control processes.
  • Experience with electronic control circuit integration.

Work Environment

Initially, work will be onsite with the potential to transition to a remote setting. The role is suited for individuals with compressor-specific expertise, and flexibility in hours is offered. The position requires adherence to medical device design control processes.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $95000.00/hr.
